Specimen: Epidote Tumblestone

Type: Mineral/Crystal

Size (picture scale cube=1cm):  20 x 25 x 12mm (0.79 x 0.98 x 0.47 inches)

Tumblestones or ‘tumbled stones’ as they are also referred to are made by ‘tumbling’ rough crystals, minerals or rocks in grit for a number of days in a tumbler machine. Different grades of grit are used in the process until the rough edges are smoothed, then polish is added to bring a soft shiny surface to the specimen. Because of this process each stone will be unique in shape and colour.

Epidote is a calcium aluminium iron sorosilicate mineral. Epidote is an abundant rock-forming mineral, but one of secondary origin. It occurs in marble and schistose rocks of metamorphic origin.

ACTUAL AS SEEN: The image shows the EXACT specimen you will receive. The specimen has been carefully hand selected and photographed. Measurements are as accurate as possible, though be aware measuring precise dimensions can be difficult from irregular shaped items. Whilst we portray colours as close to life-like as we can, colours will vary if taken in sunlight, indoors, from monitor to monitor and device to device. Once this specimen is sold, we will update this listing with new similar selected item, with a new photo and dimensions.
