Description
Septarian Calcite Crystal Slice – Utah, USA
This stunning Septarian Calcite Slice originates from the ancient sedimentary deposits of Utah, USA, and is a captivating piece for collectors, crystal lovers, and natural history enthusiasts alike.
Septarian nodules, often called “Dragon Stones”, are a unique geological formation created around 50 to 70 million years ago during the Cretaceous Period, forming in ancient seabeds as mud balls that later cracked and were filled with minerals like calcite, aragonite, and barite.
This slice reveals the incredible internal crystal structure of the nodule: striking golden calcite crystals form within dark grey limestone boundaries, outlined by earthy brown aragonite veins, creating a natural mosaic of texture and colour. The visible septaria (shrinkage cracks) give this stone its name, derived from the Latin “septum,” meaning partition.
Each piece is hand-selected for its quality, polish, and character. The crystal you receive will be similar in appearance to the photo shown. See image with 1cm scale cube for reference.
All of our crystals are 100% genuine specimens and come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
