Geology & Formation:
Heulandite forms in vesicular cavities of volcanic rocks, particularly basalt flows, where it develops as a secondary mineral through low-grade metamorphism. In the UK, and especially Scotland, occurrences of Heulandite are uncommon and typically associated with historical quarries or remote igneous sites. It crystallises from hydrothermal fluids rich in aluminium and silica, depositing in open pockets over time to form distinct, often fan-shaped, aggregates.
Crystal Type & Species:
- Mineral Group: Zeolite Group
- Chemical Formula (Typical): (Ca,Na2)Al2Si7O18·6H2O
- Crystal System: Monoclinic
- Hardness: 3.5 – 4 on Mohs scale
- Color: White, pink, salmon, peach, or pale orange, often with a pearly or vitreous luster
Metaphysical Properties:
Heulandite is revered for its calming and uplifting energy. It is believed to aid in meditation, past-life recall, and spiritual connection. As a zeolite, it is also used for detoxification and energy cleansing, making it a popular choice in metaphysical collections.
This rare Scottish Heulandite makes a perfect addition for collectors, geology enthusiasts, healers, and crystal lovers seeking something both beautiful and geologically significant from the UK.
