This impressive and RARE giant Bathrotomaria gastropod fossil hails from the Callovian stage of the Jurassic period and was discovered in France. With an age of approximately 164–166 million years, this striking marine fossil is an exceptional example of a large spiral-shelled gastropod that once inhabited warm, shallow seas during the Jurassic.

The genus Bathrotomaria is known for its turreted, high-spired shell with deeply incised sutures and robust whorls. These features are clearly visible in this specimen, showcasing the typical architecture that adapted this mollusc to life in a soft marine substrate.
