Crystal Type & Species: Emerald is the deep green variety of Beryl, a cyclosilicate mineral with the chemical formula Be₃Al₂Si₆O₁₈. The vibrant green coloration is due to trace amounts of chromium and/or vanadium. These emerald crystals have formed naturally on their host matrix rock, making them a highly desirable mineralogical and collector’s specimen.
Geology: This emerald specimen was mined from the metamorphic and pegmatitic zones of Swat Valley, one of the premier emerald localities in the world. These emeralds form within hydrothermal veins cutting through ultramafic and carbonate host rocks. The geological setting of the region provides ideal pressure, temperature, and chemical conditions to produce gem-quality emeralds embedded in their natural matrix. Swat emeralds are internationally recognized for their clarity, deep green hue, and association with micaceous schist and quartzite matrix.
Scientific & Metaphysical Properties: Emeralds are aligned with the Heart Chakra, and are known to symbolise love, growth, healing, and wisdom. They are said to enhance emotional well-being, promote loyalty and unity, and stimulate mental clarity. As a variety of beryl, emerald also shares the stabilising and strengthening properties associated with this mineral family. When presented on matrix, the natural formation adds energetic grounding and visual harmony to the crystal.
