Geology & Formation:

These minerals formed in the oxidised zones of lead-rich hydrothermal veins in the historical mining region of Dyfed. Cerussite, a lead carbonate, often develops in arid conditions from the alteration of Galena. Linarite, a striking blue lead-copper sulphate, typically forms alongside cerussite and other secondary minerals in oxidized ore environments. The vibrant contrast of these two minerals highlights the complex secondary mineralisation processes in Welsh lead mines.
