Pyrite, or Iron Pyrite, aka Fool’s Gold, is an iron sulfide. This mineral’s metallic luster and pale brass-yellow hue give it a superficial resemblance to gold, hence the well-known nickname of fool’s gold.

Pyrite or Iron Pyrites is Iron Sulphide also known to many as Fools Gold. In Renaissance times hundreds of tons of Pyrite was shipped from the new world in the mistaken belief that it was actually Gold. Ironically small quantities of Gold are sometimes found in in Pyrite.
