Description

This listing is for a 100% genuine Hiddenite Crystal from Karelia, Russia. You will receive the exact specimen shown in the photograph, carefully selected for its distinctive green hue and mineral clarity. The 1cm scale cube provides accurate size reference.

Hiddenite is the green variety of the mineral spodumene, coloured by trace amounts of chromium. It is valued for both its aesthetic and metaphysical qualities, and is considered one of the rarer forms of spodumene.

All of our Crystals are 100% Genuine Specimens & come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Key Features:

  • Species: Spodumene (variety: Hiddenite)
  • Chemical Formula: LiAlSi2O6 (Lithium Aluminum Inosilicate)
  • Crystal System: Monoclinic
  • Habit: Prismatic crystals, often vertically striated
  • Colour: Green (chromium-bearing)
  • Lustre: Vitreous
  • Hardness: 6.5–7 Mohs
  • Cleavage: Perfect in two directions
  • Fracture: Uneven to splintery

Geological Context:

  • Locality: Karelia, Russia
  • Depositional Environment: Found in pegmatitic zones formed during the late-stage cooling of granitic magma
  • Geological Stage: Precambrian to Paleozoic, depending on local pegmatite field
  • Morphology Features: Slender, striated prismatic crystals with sharp terminations when complete
  • Zone / Biozone: Not applicable to mineral species
  • Notable: Hiddenite was first discovered in North Carolina (USA), but this Russian locality is known for similarly high-grade specimens. Its green colour is due to chromium, not iron or manganese like some other spodumene varieties
