Geology & Formation:
Desert Roses form in evaporite deposits where water has evaporated from mineral-rich basins in desert climates. As the groundwater evaporates, it leaves behind crystallised minerals like gypsum. When these crystals grow in the presence of sand grains, they form the rosette-shaped clusters known as Desert Roses. These can take thousands of years to develop and are typically found in desert regions such as the Sahara, Mexico, and southwestern USA.
