Campylite is a variety of the mineral Mimetite. It received its name from the Greek ‘kampylos’ meaning bent, on account of the shaped bend of its crystals. It occurs in the upper lead deposits through the oxidation of galena or cerussite. The main deposits are Pribam in Bohemia, Czech Republic, and Dry Gill, Caldbeck Fells, near Wigton, Cumbria, UK.

from Dry Gill Mine, Cumbria
