Calcite Iceland Spar Crystal – Optical Double Refraction Mineral – Genuine Specimen from China – Certificate of Authenticity

£13.20

Calcite cleanses and improves the functions of the kidneys, pancreas, and spleen. It dissolves calcification of the bones. It balances the assimilation of calcium within the body, strengthening the skeleton and joints. It alleviates intestinal and skin conditions, stimulates blood clotting and tissue healing.
Calcite has many different attributes for the mind and the body. Mentally, it is a stone that helps the wearer in everyday life, increasing awareness, empathy, compassion, inner strength, and motivation. It also helps promote a positive moral structure and outlook, and overall spiritual growth.

Iceland spar, formerly known as Iceland crystal, is a transparent variety of calcite, or crystallized calcium carbonate, originally brought from Iceland, and used in demonstrating the polarization of light. It occurs in large readily cleavable crystals, easily divisible into rhombs, and is remarkable for its birefringence. This means that the index of refraction of the crystal is different for light of different polarization. A ray of unpolarized light passing through the crystal divides into two rays of perpendicular polarization directed at different angles, called double refraction. So objects seen through the crystal appear doubled. Famously discovered in Iceland, hence its name, Iceland Spar can also be found in USA, Mexico and China.

Calcite is a carbonate mineral and the most stable polymorph of calcium carbonate. Calcite is a common constituent of sedimentary rocks, limestone in particular, much of which is formed from the shells of dead marine organisms. Approximately 10% of sedimentary rock is limestone.

Description

This listing features a genuine Iceland Spar Calcite Crystal sourced from China, renowned for its exceptional transparency and optical qualities. Iceland Spar is a variety of calcite (CaCO₃) that exhibits strong birefringence, or double refraction. When placed over text or images, it visually duplicates them — a unique and fascinating property that makes it popular among collectors, educators, and crystal healers alike.

Highly prized for both its optical clarity and metaphysical associations, this transparent calcite crystal is believed to aid in insight, clarity, and the amplification of energy. It is frequently used in meditation and energy work to clear blockages and stimulate the higher chakras.

Scale cube = 1cm — please refer to the photo for full sizing details. This is an actual photo of the crystal you will receive or one of equal quality.

All of our Crystals are 100% Genuine Specimens & come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
