This name, Apophyllite, is derived from the Greek apophylliso, meaning ‘it flakes off’, a reference to this class’s tendency to flake apart when heated, due to water loss. These minerals are typically found as secondary minerals in vesicles in basalt or other volcanic rocks.

Apophyllite is a highly sought-after mineral in both scientific and metaphysical circles. Often found in Indian basalt quarries, it frequently forms radiant clusters alongside minerals like stilbite. This mineral is well known for its perfect terminations, transparent to translucent quality, and calming energetic properties.
