Description

Amethyst Faceted Pendulum – Natural Purple Quartz Crystal

This Amethyst faceted pendulum is a genuine natural quartz crystal, shaped and polished to create a balanced, symmetrical dowsing tool. The photograph shows the exact piece you will receive, carefully selected for its colour depth, clarity, and precise faceting. Full sizing details are available in the listing photos to provide accurate scale and proportions.

Your pendulum includes a Certificate of Authenticity lifetime guarantee generic card, confirming it as a genuine Amethyst mineral specimen.

Mineral Type & Scientific Classification

Amethyst is the purple variety of Quartz, with the chemical formula SiO₂ (silicon dioxide). It belongs to the tectosilicate mineral class and crystallises in the trigonal crystal system. Quartz typically forms six-sided prismatic crystals terminating in pyramidal points, though in this case the crystal has been cut and faceted.

The purple colour of Amethyst is primarily caused by trace amounts of iron within the quartz structure, combined with natural irradiation during geological formation. Colour intensity can range from pale lilac to deep violet depending on trace element concentration and growth conditions.

Quartz has a Mohs hardness of 7, making it durable and suitable for carving and faceting. It displays a vitreous lustre and conchoidal fracture, with no true cleavage.

Colour, Clarity & Faceted Finish

This Amethyst pendulum displays natural purple tones that may vary from light lavender to richer violet hues. Some specimens show subtle internal zoning, slight translucency, or natural inclusions typical of quartz formation.

The faceted design enhances light reflection across the surface, highlighting the crystal’s natural clarity and colour. The symmetrical cut also helps provide balanced weight distribution for pendulum use.

No artificial dyes or coatings are present. The colour is naturally derived from geological processes within the quartz crystal.

Geological Formation

Amethyst forms in hydrothermal veins and cavities within volcanic rocks. Silica-rich fluids circulate through fractures and open spaces, gradually depositing layers of quartz as temperature and pressure conditions change.

As crystals grow, trace iron becomes incorporated into the lattice. Natural irradiation from surrounding rock alters the iron state, producing the characteristic purple colour. Over millions of years, these conditions allow well-formed Amethyst crystals to develop.

Amethyst is often found associated with other quartz varieties, calcite, and various volcanic host rocks.

Pendulum Form & Traditional Associations

Pendulums are shaped to allow free movement from a chain or cord, often used in dowsing or spiritual practices. The faceted design combines aesthetic appeal with functional symmetry.

Amethyst has been traditionally associated with clarity and spiritual awareness in symbolic contexts. These associations are spiritual in nature and reflect long-standing cultural interpretations of purple quartz.

The polished and faceted finish makes this piece suitable for display, collection, or personal use within spiritual practices, while also serving as an attractive decorative mineral item.
