There are several references within the records of English folklore which tell of the legend of Snakestones. At Keynsham, in Somerset, UK, the legend tells of St. Keyna who was able to turn serpents into stone. Elsewhere in Southern England Snakestones were thought to have been fairies who, for their crimes, were turned into snakes, and then into stone!!
Snakestones were highly prized in medieval England as curios & ornaments, and to perpetuate the legend that craftsman have for centuries carved heads on what we now know to be Fossil Ammonites!MAY DIFFER TO PHOTO: The image shows an example of the single specimen you will receive.
