Fossil Trilobites were marine based, and some of the most successful of their time, roaming the oceans for over 270 million years! The name Trilobite, meaning ‘Three Lobes’, was given to them due to their body being made up of three sections. Although it is not uncommon to find whole Trilobite fossils, it can be a lot more common to find them incomplete, missing different parts of the three sections. These fossils vary in size, ranging from only a few millimetres to some species measuring in at around 12 inches.
Please note: These specific specimens are one of the most heavily restored fossils on the market. There is often a protective, matte paint applied over the top of the restoration. When these Trilobites are found in nature they nearly always split, crumble and/or break away from the original matrix they are being obtained from, and it has always been seen that restoring the rest of the specimen and/or supplying a more solid composite matrix is required to show how the whole Trilobite looked and help preserve it.

Measurements are as accurate as possible, though be aware measuring precise dimensions can be difficult from irregular shaped items. Whilst we portray colours as close to life-like as we can, colours will vary if taken in sunlight, indoors, from monitor to monitor and device to device. The scale cube in the photo is 1cm to give a visual size.
