Pterosaur, meaning Winged Lizard, or more commonly referred to as Pterodactyl, was a flying reptile that lived around 228 to 66 million years ago. They were the first animals to fly, apart from insects, so hugely dominated the skies. Unlike birds, they had wings made of skin, muscle and other tissues which stretched from an enormously long fourth finger to their ankles. It was a carnivore and would have preyed upon fish and other small to medium animals.
